Research the topic of employment discrimination and cite at least three resources. You can choose any employee or employer legal protection to write about
that you want. Examples might be Title VII, Equal Pay Act, Sexual Harassment, or a related topic of your choice. You are to research and write a 5-7 page
individual research paper on your topic, which includes defining the legal rule you are researching. For example, “The legal definition of sexual harassment
is…”
Please include the following: One of your resources must be a case that you find on Lexis-Nexis. You are NOT to write a brief. Instead, in paragraph form
(consistent with a research paper format), please write 1) a full descriiption of the facts of the case, 2) a full descriiption of the laws involved, 3) the
verdict/result, 4) your opinion of the case and the law. APA format is required.
If you use an article as another source, please include a summary of the article. Your summary should include: 1) An analysis of the issue(s)/arguments
involved; 2) Your opinion of the article – do you agree or disagree with the premise that is stated by the author? 3) A conclusion stating what you learned from
the article.
With the above instructions in mind, the content/body of your writing project can can actually be structured in any manner you like. For example, you can use
three cases as your sources and compare and contrast them. Or, you can choose a topic, write about a case and use two articles about the topic. This is your
opportunity to get creative with this writing assignment. But, please remember to support your opinion statements by constructing legally sound arguments,
such as “I believe the court failed to adequately consider the employer’s defense of bona fide occupational qualification because….”
