Task Description: You need to give a 5 minute pitch of your podcast season and pilot episode. The aim of the pitch is to persuade a potential client to fund your pitch. Externally enrolled students can choose to present their pitch as a pre-recorded video or live in-person in class. If you are presenting in class your pitch will be scheduled for seminar 11 and 12. If you are presenting a pre-recorded video your pitch is due on 19 October at 4pm. Your pitch must include pre-produced examples of your audio podcast. We will discuss the requirements for this in class. Your pitch must be no more than 5 minutes long. You may choose to combine your pitch, and podcast season idea, with other group members. You can negotiate this with the course coordinator. You can use only 3 slides. No slide can have more than 2 sentences of text. Your pitch must be a concise, engaging and sharp outline of your project. Presentation weeks will be allocated in Seminar 2. Recording of Oral and Practical Assessment • All presentations will be recorded for marking purposes via recording facilities available where the assessment takes place (eg. ECHO360, Zoom, camera device). • Recordings will be retained by the School of Communication and Arts for at least 12 months from the release of the final grade for the course. • Recordings will be stored in a secure manner and will only be accessed by authorised school staff for the purposes of: o Moderation of marking; o Provision of feedback to the student(s) recorded; and/or o Re-marking following a successful re-mark application. Criteria & Marking: • Compelling research topic and question. • Strong account of the significance of the topic and question, including reference to contemporary public and scholarly debate. • Clear explanation for how the project will be undertaken. • Well-reasoned explanation of the form, style and intended audience of the project. • Engaging and persuasive presentation of the podcast season concept and pilot episodes. Pitch plan?See another document for details? feedback: This is a simple and sustainable idea for a podcast under which you could host multiple episodes. The idea for your episode is satisfactory but I suggest further developing the narrative/ and storyboard for this podcast. Rather than taking a pros v cons approach, introducing a story and a narrative arc can make it a lot more interesting.
