Using you qualitative research methods knowledge, complete the following exercise:
Brainstorm a Qualitative Research Project:
What topic or topic area are you planning to research?
Why have you chosen this topic? How does it relate to your life, your interests, your studies, or your work?
What do you already know or believe about the topic that will facilitate your research?
What question(s) about the topic do you hope to answer for yourself? What is your working research
question?
What is your working title?
Locate and name at least one journal article that you plan to use. (I find the best resource is UNT Library). List
the journal article as it would be listed on a reference page in APA. What are your reasons for choosing this
article? Give two main take-aways your learned from reading the article.
What sample would you use?
Which method would you use to collect data (i.e. interviews, focus groups, observation, document analysis)?
Briefly explain the steps you would take to complete your data collection.
In what way(s) and to whom is your research significant and your argument interesting, important, and not
obvious or already known? What do you want your readers to learn from your research?
