STEP 2: COMPLETE THE POVERTY SIMULATION
After you have completed the surveys, you will complete the poverty simulation. Please write down the following while you are participating:

Poverty Simulation Assignment
Instructions:
Please complete part 1 and part 2. Please write in 12 point font, Times New
Roman, double spaced, 1 inch margins.
Complete the poverty simulation via the Spent website (http://playspent.org/). This
is a multi-step simulation where you will make decisions related to your resources.
This is run by non-profit, Urban Ministries of Durham
(http://www.umdurham.org). At the end of the simulation, you are asked if you
would like to make a donation. You are more than welcome to do so, but you are
not required to as part of this assignment. There are many options throughout
the simulation; you may be interested in completing it more than once, to
experience different scenarios and options.
Write about your experience during the spent simulation. The purpose of this
paper is to provide students with an opportunity to think about their experience
through a poverty simulation and to reflect on their personal reaction to issues.
