Mobile Application intervention reduces anxiety in breast biopsy patient
– Breast biopsy patients have high anxiety levels before, during, and after procedures, leading to longer biopsy hours, delay in follow-up or treatment, and poor
outcomes.
– Anxiety increases due to insufficient information and knowledge being provided by the healthcare workers.
– Using a mobile application to provide patient education and engage patients to understand the biopsy procedure prior to the procedure.
– Patient can search for information via phone with the application—educational videos with layman terms in different languages that ease the
understanding.
– Patient well-equipped with education and information before biopsy can rapidly reduce the anxiety as the patient knows what will happen before, during, and
after biopsy.
Measure
– 30 of females who are going for biopsy divided into 2 groups
– 15 of them use the mobile application
– 15 of them use the standard routine practice (verbal information from surgeon/radiologist/healthcare worker or random search from the internet by patient)
– Questionnaire pre and post-biopsy – State trait Anxiety Inventory, Likert scale combinations
Conclusion
– Patient education delivered via mobile application intervention reduces anxiety in breast biopsy patients.
– Anxiety reduces will positive health outcome
