Marketing blog assignment
Please prepare a write-up (limit of 1000 words, not including references) on a current marketing topic in the
form of a blog post. Put yourself in the position of an expert explaining a marketing concept, with relevant
examples, to someone who is not an expert. The post should be engaging and clear while also illuminating
an important marketing concept (e.g., measurement of online ad effectiveness, use of robots in retail) for
your reader. The topic should be new and interesting, not something that is already well understood by
marketers (or covered in basic business school classes, for example).
The following topics are not new or interesting and I’d prefer not to read about them in your blog posts:
AR/VR, chatbots, blind boxes/blind bags, influencer marketing and discussions about the benefits of big
data/analytics. Find something else. You’ll have to do research. Remember to properly reference your
ideas and not to run afoul of plagiarism concerns. For example, the ideas you write about must be your
own or credited to the original source every time you use them.
Formatting
Provide your name and a post title at the top. Present a visually interesting and easy to read format (e.g.,
no smaller than 12 pt. font). Pictures, tables, figures, etc. are welcome if they directly contribute to
engaging the reader and explaining your concept. Superfluous content (e.g., distracting formatting, images
that are ‘for fun’, etc.) should not make it past your final editing stage. You should include a separate
reference section with citations done properly (i.e. every idea you borrow from others and every instance of
borrowing language from others in quotes and cited).
