Task Description
You are required to develop a business case proposal report for a new business idea for your organisation. Ensure you integrate concepts of sustainability, innovation and resilience into your new business idea.
You should refer to the changing global context around sustainability, innovation and resilience, and address major recent developments that your organisation should be taking note of.
You may use appropriate models from the literature to illustrate and support your business case. You may refer to course notes, course resources, your texts, the academic literature and examples.
You are expected to present an original idea that you are developing and presenting to your organisation, with reference to relevant and appropriate source material.
All assessment items remain confidential.
Assessment Format:
Your business case proposal should include an executive summary; a description of your idea; how and why you have developed your proposal; what the proposal is and its value proposition; technical issues such as who will manage the proposal, how and timeframes; analysis of costs and benefits, including estimated financial and other value returns to your organisation; an assessment of risks; your recommendations; and relevant references.
You are expected to develop a comprehensive proposal for an innovative sustainability initiative that address and aims to improve environmental, financial and social performance. Your initiative should demonstrate how the business can achieve enhanced organisational resilience. Your business case should be supported by sound argument that draws on the concepts, principles, models and techniques covered during the unit.
Your executive summary should be no more than 250-300 words. Your business case proposal should be no more than 3,500 +/- 10% words in length in total. Marks will be deducted at the rate of 1 mark for every 10% over the word limit.
The following are excluded from your word count:
• Executive summary
• Text incorporated into tables and figures
• References
• Appendices
You are expected to utilise credible, relevant and current academic and industry sources in preparing your work – including the course texts. Online sources such as newspaper articles and blogs should be used sparingly.
Your proposal should be submitted in Word format.
