Your assessment answers will be assessed having regard to the relevant NTU Grade-Based Assessment descriptors and the module assessment criteria. The matrix on the following pages gives you an indication of how well you need to satisfy each of the assessment criteria in order to achieve a particular grade. However, your final grade for the complete assessment will be based upon a holistic judgment of how well you have met the criteria overall.
The assessment criteria for Trusts may be summarised as follows:
1 Did you identify all the issues? If you miss an issue, especially a big issue, this will have a significant impact on the grade that can be awarded, regardless of how well you deal with the rest of the question.

2 Were you able to state where the relevant law is to be found? For example, did you include a precise reference to statute or the name of the relevant case?
3 Did you include an accurate statement of the legal principle? For example, did you set out the wording of the relevant statute or state the proposition from the case?
4 Did you then explain, in your own words, what the legal principle means? For example, did you state when it applies, how it should be interpreted, and what it requires someone to do?
5 How well did you apply the law to the facts? Did you use all the relevant facts from the scenario? Where appropriate, did you consider sensible alternative interpretations of those facts? Did you suggest how we should respond to ambiguous facts?
6 Did you remember to include a brief conclusion? Did this state precisely what the outcome should be?
