1. Introduction
The introduction sets the stage for what will be included in the proposal. It should include the following:
a. Problem statement and purpose for the capstone project.
b. Brief overview of the capstone project.
c. Significance of the capstone project.
d. Contents of proposal.
2. Research Questions and Specific Aims
Describe the question(s) to be addressed and list the broad, long-term objectives and the goal of the specific research proposed.
3. Relevance
Analуze the context and justifу the importance of the issue to be examined. If the aims of the capstone project are achieved, how will knowledge and/or health-related practices be advanced?
4. Background and Significance
Summarize the literature on past and current strategies that have been used to address the issues related to the project. Describe the background leading to present conditions, critically evaluate existing knowledge, and specifically identify the gaps in knowledge that the project is intended to fill. Discuss the effect of past studies on the concepts, methods, technologies, services, or interventions that drive this field.
5. Research Design and Methods
This section should include the following subsections:
a. Describe the research design or conceptual or practice framework, procedures, and analyses to be used to accomplish the specific aims of the project. Explain why the study design is appropriate to the proposed question(s).
b. For all research involving human subjects, describe your process for protection of subjects from research risks as well as the inclusion of women, minorities, and children as appropriate.
c. Explain how the data will be collected, analyzed, and interpreted.
d. Describe your data management and preliminary statistical plan.
e. Describe any new methodology used and its advantage over existing methodologies.
f. Describe any novel concepts, approaches, tools, or technologies to be used in the proposed dissertation.
g. Discuss the potential difficulties and limitations of the proposed procedures and alternative approaches to achieve the aims.
h. Provide a tentative sequence or timetable for the project.
6. Proposal Summary
Concisely summarize the proposal.
