Find a song that is related to a topic covered by this course or to any phenomenon, character, event, or period that falls within the scope of global history and
globalization. Write a 3-4 paragraph reflection paper discussing the relationship between the song and the respective historical
phenomenon/character/event/period. While preparing your reflection, think about these questions: Who is the author of the song? Who is the intended
audience of the song? How does the song speak to the content and/or themes of the course or to global history and globalization? How is the respective
historical topic interpreted in the song? Is the song based on traditional understandings of past events or does it illustrate any shifts in our idea of the past?
Whenever possible, refer to a keyword or other important terms from our course.
The song that you are analyzing could belong to any musical style. Whether it is pop, gospel, country, punk, rap, or thrash metal, your submission will be
accepted.
If the song is in English, include the lyrics (that doesn’t count toward the 3-4 paragraph requirement). If the song is not in English, try to find an English
translation of the lyrics or at least summarize them in a few sentences.
Include a link to a website such as YouTube where I can listen to the song or watch the video.
