For this discussion, assume that you want to evaluate the efficacy of a program with these goals:
Aims to provide counseling and case management to people living with HIV to support medical treatment adherence and their psychological needs.
Is unique because it is based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs.
Provides transitional housing so that your clients do not have to worry about homelessness and can concentrate on working on their emotional challenges.
To determine if this program is effective, you design a two-group study: one group of clients and one control group of nonclients. To assign the groups, you
place every other intake into the program. The other intakes are assigned to the control group. You do not offer services to the control group, but you collect
data from them. You predict that your clients will have better outcomes after completing your program than the control group. This is an ideal research
design.
In your initial post, respond to the following prompts:
Discuss whether this study is ethical. Why or why not? If not, alter the design to suggest ways to collect the data you need while still being ethical.
Based on Readings:

Evaluation Toolkit: Tool E: Using common evaluation designs
Tool E is a great section but a little complex. Go slowly through the material and bring your questions to the discussions. You don’t need to know all this
information now, but you do need to know where to go if you have questions.
