One approach – BUT NOT THE ONLY APPROACH – is have your paper arise from, relate to, delve deeper into, or otherwise concern a real case or actual example discussed in the LSB text, in the Barron’s book, or in one or more of the class-related YouTube videos. Generally, it would be much better to choose a case or example that was not discussed at great length (e.g., for more than one or two paragraphs), because that gives more opportunity for you to do your own research and develop your own insights.
Outline
Introduction
BP’s mobile offshore drilling unit exploded spilling 3.19 million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico causing the most significant oil disaster.
Who was involved?
Transocean, an offshore oil-drilling business, owned and operated the oil rig involved in the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, which BP leased. U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier blamed BP for 67% of the problem, 30% on Transocean, and 3% on Halliburton, the cement contractor.
Final Court Decision
BP officially plugged the oil leak bolted fitted cap, although as of early 2018, the approved settlement has delivered over 11.2 billion to compensate claimants losses.
