

Routine Activity Theory states that crime will occur when three things occur: there is a motivated offender,
there is a suitable target, and there is the absence of a capable guardian. Since the onset of COVID-19, our
routines have changed. Many employees have been furloughed and have no job to go to. Others have been
let go from their jobs. Many are experiencing financial hardships. Others are working remotely from home.
Children may not be supervised as schools are not meeting in person. Some businesses remain closed. What
do you think our current conditions are going to do to the crime rate in this country? Do you think there will
be more crime (particularly property crimes) due to the number of unemployed individuals? Do you think
there will be less crime as more people remain at home? Your initial posting must be no less than 200 words
