The comparative visual analysis focused on the three pairs of works listed below. You should be prepared to write on either of these three pairs. You will be
randomly assigned one of them at the time of the exam. You will start your analysis with a statement on a significant correlation between the works. The
similarities and differences between the works will be further developed in the rest of your paper.
You will need to demonstrate that you are thoroughly familiar with each work’s specific formal properties and content. Your analysis will also need to discuss
the socio-cultural and art historical context in which the works were produced. As you develop your interpretation, make sure you address the four basic
questions discussed at the beginning of the term.
A good essay will discuss how the two works communicate with each other in terms of style, content, mood, and cultural meaning. In addition, it is expected
that you will employ the relevant key terms covered in lecture for your essay comparisons.
