Make sure you look at the C-chart instructions starting on page 210. If you use the provided template, then fill out the top of the chart table in order to receive
credit. It’s ok to use Excel if you chose to do so.
Activity 2 has 5 parts

Complete chart and questions per Activity 2 and upload all to dropbox.

Grading rubric
1. Graph (putting all raw data in graph table (if using template), using proper scale and labeling Cbar(average/mean) and control limits clearly) 2pts
2. Cbar (show calculation formula and then plug in numbers to get results) 2 pts
3. Control limits (show formula and plug in numbers and correct results) 2pts
4. Address if points in control (using run rules in book pg 221) – Any point outside control limits, 8 points in a row above or below average/mean, 8 pts
trending up or down – 2 pts
5. Address what points are potential special cause variation. See pg 183 to refresh yourselves on what special cause variation is. (special cause doesn’t
necessarily mean “out of control.” if you were owner, is there any group of defects data on this graph that would you want to investigate as a potential special
cause?) – 2 pts
