The website is based on the community that you analysed in Assessment 2. The website assignment is not
just a description or a copy of your report text. This assignment is different, as it will
go some way towards addressing creative ways to attain the goals of your community.
THIS IS A PRETEND WEBSITE FOR ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT ONLY. But it should look ’realistic’.
There
is no need to change the name of the community/institution/club or association. Search engines will not be
able
to find it.
In a nutshell, a HD-awarded website provides practical and creative solutions to one or more of the
challenges that
you identified in the report.
The website must be clear in its rationale and structure: you will likely need a homepage, or an about us page
where
you tell your online readers about your community and about what your website does.
You might even consider having a ’manifesto’ that explains this overall ’reason’ for making the website. In
the process
of creating your website, explain how your website is likely to help your community achieve their
goals.Make sure all
materials in your site has a reason for being there. You may start each page with: ’the purpose of this
section/page,
is to explain/illustrate/provide information’ on…’
DO CONSIDER the way your website communicates information to your community and on its behalf (ie.,
the
intellectual ’pitch’, the tone, the language you use to convey ideas, specific terminology used in the
community).
Be sure to include links to information that are useful to your chosen community (out links).
Resources:
Your community-oriented website will need to have at least 4 references, of which these must be 2 scholarly
works
that can be selected from the reading list of the unit or elsewhere. Harvard WSU style is the required
referencing
format for the unit.
All external material used on the website (including images, charts, etc) should be referenced. Your reference
list will
be in the MS Word that goes through Turnitin but you can also include it on the website.
The upward count of 1000 words does include in-text referencing you use in your web pages but NOT the
reference list (put this in your Word document or risk losing marks).
Format :
In a Word document, add all text from your website and do not forget to enter the full URL of your site.
You must have in-text referencing on the web pages.
You do not need a bibliography/reference list on the website itself but be sure to add the full reference list in
your Word document.
