Placement 3: Initial Interview
(This can be completed by a Practice Supervisor or Practice Assessor.
If completed by the PS they must discuss and agree with the PA) This meeting should take place within the first week of the placement

Student to identify learning and development needs (with guidance from the Practice Supervisor)
1. Demonstrate the application of knowledge and understanding in relation to physiology and pathophysiology of musculo-skeletl condition.
2. To develop an effective therapeutic and holistic approach of care.
3. Appraise evidence based practice in order to inform appropriate strategies for management of care.
4. In the first two week, I aim to learn the ward routine, handover, some of the common procedures used within the Ortho/ trauma ward.
5. I intend to practice managing a few patients with minimal supervision with the aim of gaining confidence to eventually manage the whole bay with supervision with a registered nurse.
6. Learn the common physical and psychological effects following surgery and those at risk.7.
Taking available learning opportunities into consideration, the student and Practice Supervisor/Practice Assessor to negotiate and agree a learning plan.

This is my first placement in 2nd year (P3)
Placement: F4 orthopedic/trauma ward
In this reflection I will cover and focus the NMC code Treat people as individuals and uphold their dignity and Always offer help if an emergency arises in your practice setting or anywhere else.
I was so nervous but excited during my first day. Luckily, I know few staff working in the ward.
The first day of my placement went well, After the full induction in the ward,I start practicing managed a full bay of patients with the supervision of a registered nurse. I was actively helping with the morning job like helping with ADL. I had the opportunity to observe during drug rounds. While assisting the patient to transfer from his bed to chair. After the transfer, I noticed the patient is not well, He start to become unresponsive, skin is pale, sweating, cold to touch and short of breath. He started to faint, and the body is shaking. It was looked like a vasovagal episode. I quickly shout for help and trigger the emergency buzzer and reassure patient all the time. I make sure the patient is safe, protect his head. when we had enough people we slid patients to the floor. will the registered staff sort out the patient. I declutter the area to give a safe environment to the staff. I also close the curtain to provide privacy and dignity. And make sure all necessary equipment is accessible like observation machines and ecg. It was a great experience on my first day.
