Purpose
Infographics are a useful way of communicating dense amounts of information in a clear, concise, and user-friendly manner. This assignment will allow students to plan and practice creating an infographic on a topic of their choice. This assignment is also intended to improve the following existing skills:
➢ identifying and using evidence
➢ organizing and presenting information effectively
➢ critical and analytical thinking
➢ writing in a persuasive and concise manner
Tasks
❏ Conduct research on your topic. This will include searching for and assessing the relevance of multiple sources of information.
❏ Identify a social phenomenon that impacts child and/or adolescent development
❏ Identify a theory to inform your advice for parents
❏ Plan, draft, and create your infographic through the theoretical framework you have selected
❏ No more than 2 pages
❏ Cite 5 references
❏ Proofread and edit completed assignment
❏ Submit your infographic via BeachBoard.
Components & Grading Criteria
Title (5 points): A good title that quickly communicates the contents of the infographic in a memorable way.
Summary (15 points): This section is a brief and succinct overview of the purpose of the infographic.
You will summarize:
➢ The social phenomenon being addressed
➢ A statement on why the social phenomenon is important to child and/adolescent development
➢ How the social phenomenon impacts parenting
Scope of the Social Phenomenon (25 points): A clear and focused, concise statement should be constructed using statistics, readings and other outside references that defines the social phenomenon you are addressing.
This section should include:
➢ Context and importance of the social phenomenon
o Clear statement of the social phenomenon such as the prevalence, population it affects, etc.
o Overview of root cause of the social phenomenon
o Describe why the social phenomenon is a relevant to child and/or adolescent development and parenting
Parenting Style Recommendations (45 points): This section contains the most detailed explanation of the concrete steps to be taken to address the social phenomenon that impacts child and/or adolescent development. The parenting style recommendations should be clear, logical, feasible solutions to the social phenomenon.
The way you define your social phenomenon in the previous sections will logically flow to your parenting style recommendations. For example, if your social phenomenon is excessive digital device screen time for toddlers, you want to provide techniques parents can use to reduce their toddler’s exposure to digital device screens. Your advice will be informed by the child development theory you have chosen, and present actionable steps parents can use.
Organization of information/APA format (10 points): Your infographic should be prepared as if it were going out to several stakeholder organizations, social media influencers, and most importantly parents. It should be a professional document and should be written in a logical, clear way. References are to be included on the infographic. Also, an appendix is to be submitted with group duties and roles.

➢ A minimum of 5 references should be used.
➢ Points here include grammar and organization of content.
