Reading Reflections are intended to serve two purposes. First, they offer you the opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of course material. Second, they allow you to connect concepts and ideas, from readings, to your own experience and life situation.
You will complete ONE Reading Reflection for each module it is assigned. The Reading Reflection is based on reading(s) from the current module. There are four options (see below) for you to choose from for your reading reflection. Although you only need to choose one option per reading reflection, try to use at least each option once during the semester.

Summary of 2 concepts or ideas you found most interesting from the reading and how you will use this concept in your everyday life List each concept or idea
Summarize each concept or idea in your own words and describe, outline, and/or interpret each concept or idea
Provide examples of how you will use this concept in your everyday life Regardless of which option you go with, the expectations are the same:
1. 300 words minimum
2. Complete ~ each aspect of the process is complete and easily identified
3. Clear ~ ideas and examples are easily identified and clearly expressed
4. Grammar & Mechanics ~ spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors distracts from your work
“Communication Consult”
A concept or idea that you can share with someone to benefit their communication and how this concept is beneficial Identify and describe who “needs” help improving their intercultural communication
What are you going to share with them and demonstrate what they can implement in their life
Analyze how this concept or idea will help the individual
“Deep Dive”
A concept or idea that intrigues you enough to search beyond the course material Evaluate two sources that enhance your understanding of the concept or idea from the material (APA or MLA citation format)
Each source should be analyzed and critiqued (not regurgitation)
Criticize, and determine if, each source adds to your understanding of the concept or idea
“Media Mashup”
Identify a relevant media (see below) example that demonstrates a specific concept or idea:
print media (newspapers, magazines, books)
OR
broadcast media (movies, television, radio)
Cite the media example (provide link or detailed description)
Critique the media example against the concept or idea being demonstrated
Demonstrate, and justify, how your chosen example illustrates the specific concept or idea
