Description: Critical assessment of the Student’s Clinical site, with a focus on the Theoretical, ethical, and health policy/economic principles of health care delivery and NP practice.
(NP=Nurse Practitioner)
Assignment Objective: At the completion of the assessment, students will be able to make the following assessment of their clinical site:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the socioeconomic factors influencing health care decision-making.
Information about the clinic: In this clinic they accept all insurances accept Medical. People who do know have insurance pay out of pocket. They see all ages of patients. Mostly from 18+. They see lot of Medicare elderly patients.
2. Identify ethical issues affecting health decision-making and assess the potential consequences. They will identify external and internal sources of constraints on decision making in practice.
Example of Ethical Issues include access to care, Justice, Beneficence, Autonomy. You can research more about the ethical issues.
3. Demonstrate their understanding of applying and utilizing theory in practice by outlining a theoretical framework for practice in this given setting.
Please use one of the Nursing Theories. You can look up more Nursing theories and choose any Nursing Theory to do question #3 (whichever one can be best applied) and apply it on the patients seen in the clinic.

4. Examine Nurse Practitioner responsibilities for decision-making given the above-described influences, that provide for safe and ethical practice within their setting.
Methodology:
Each student will prepare a discussion of the factors described above that may affect access to and delivery of adequate health care at their practice site.
